Columbus- TFA Indiana Roadrunners hit the turf running against the Southwest Indiana Soccer Association and never looked back. With a 4-1 dominating win, the Roadrunners claimed the league division championship.
TFA’s Molly Wintz (Batesville) finished the day with seven saves and allowed only one goal which was via a deflection inside the box.
The Roadrunner defense was anchored with the return of sweeper Ashley Dirr (Lawrenceburg). TFA quickly shut down SWISA’s over the top fast break with offside traps and flat back switch up from their diamond. Supporting Dirr where Danielle Clark (South Dearborn) and Hannah Miller (Lawrenceburg).
Scoring for the Roadrunners were Grace Moster (Franklin County)in the first half with a sweet touch on a left cross. It was the only goal by either team in the first half.
Starting the second half, Hailee Hinthorne took the lead pass from the center. With smooth touches and determination, she cut through the SWISA defense hitting a shot just past the 18 to up the lead to 2-0.
TFA continued to pound the goal. A cross from the left was picked off by Lexie Brown who nailed the shot into the corner to increase the advantage to 3-0.
SWISA put up a counter attack and delivered a perfectly placed corner kick to the far back side of the goal and was slammed in.
Still up 3-1, the Roadrunners regained their momentum and composure. A set play down the left, across to the middle and then up to Maggie Granatir (South Dearborn) gave the Roadrunners their fourth and final goal as Maggie placed the kick into the back of the net.
With the win, the Roadrunners clinch the Second Division championship and the right to move up to First Division next season. The Roadrunners ended the league season with a record of 5-0-1, scored 12 goals and allowed just two.
